5 Keys for First Timers
1. Communicate with Meg so she knows what you need
2. Your hair should be about the size of a grain of rice, like this
3. You may experience redness, slight swelling for up to 1 day
5. It gets better! The pain lessens with consistent waxing
4. Avoid the 4 S’s after your wax: sun, swimming, sweating, & sex
Before and After Your Wax Appointment
Here's the primer on the main do’s and don’ts of getting waxed:
Clean skin
Please arrive for your appointment with clean skin, ideally freshly showered. If not, please arrive a few minutes early to clean up with the wipes we have provided in the restroom.
Hair length
Make sure the hair is at least 1/4" long, like a grain of rice, or long enough to pick up with the tips of your fingers. For sanitary reasons, Meg cannot trim your hair when you arrive.
No tanning
UV tanning can cause inflammation under the skin which makes you a lot more prone to problems with waxing. Fake/spray tanning will come right off with the wax, so no sense in waxing right after a spray-on.
Exfoliate lightly
Gently exfoliate the area you are having waxed the day before your appointment. Really, do this about once a week for best practice, but definitely right before you come in.
Mentally prepare
Get a good sleep, avoid caffeine, and hydrate. Your mental state can really affect your experience and your pain threshold so do your best to take extra care of yourself before your appointment.
Avoid the 4 S’s
Sun, Swimming, Sweating, and Sex are not your friend for at least 24 hours after a wax. Your skin must remain clean and protected after waxing to prevent pigmentation, painful friction, and irritation.
