New to Waxing
If you're getting ready for your first waxing appointment, here are my best tips and advice:
Let your hair grow to the proper length: For waxing to be effective, your hair should be at least a quarter-inch long. Avoid shaving or trimming the hair for a few weeks before your appointment to ensure that it's long enough for the wax to grip properly. For a visual, go here.
Communicate openly: It's essential to communicate your expectations and concerns with me. Let me know if you have any specific areas you want to be waxed or any sensitive areas you're worried about. Clear communication ensures that I can tailor the treatment to your needs and address any concerns you may have.
Exfoliate gently beforehand: A day or two before your appointment, exfoliate the skin gently to remove any dead skin cells and help prevent ingrown hairs. However, avoid exfoliating immediately before your appointment, as it can increase skin sensitivity.
Arrive clean and fresh: It's best to arrive at your appointment with clean, freshly showered skin. Avoid applying oils, lotions, or any products that may interfere with the waxing process. Clean skin helps ensure better adherence of the wax and a more comfortable experience.
Prepare for some discomfort: I'll help you to remember to breathe deeply and relax during the process to minimize any discomfort as best we can.
Expect some redness and sensitivity: After waxing, it's common to experience temporary redness, slight swelling, or sensitivity in the treated area. This is normal and should subside within a few hours or a day. I will apply a soothing post-waxing product to help calm your skin.
Avoid the 4 Sās: Sun, Swimming, Sweating, and Sex are not your friend for at least 24 hours after a wax. We want to keep the skin as clean and protected as possible directly after waxing to avoid potential causes of pigmentation, friction, and irritation.
Schedule regular appointments: To maintain smooth results, consider scheduling regular waxing appointments every 4-6 weeks. This helps ensure that the hair grows back finer and softer over time.
Don't hesitate to ask questions: If you have any questions or concerns before, during, or after the waxing process, don't hesitate to ask me. I am here for you and to provide guidance to make your experience as comfortable as possible.
